It’s hard to evaluate the effectiveness of a furnace filter by merely observing it in use. These filters have great specs’, carry the MERV 11 rating and are attractively priced. They have a solid build, as judged by how they feel in the hand, and installed easily in my furnace. I’ll update this review if I see any issues in use, but for now these are 4 stars filters based on their great specs and good price.

I’ve been using cheap filters, and it shows. When they’re new I get more dust deposited around the vents. They do better as they get more clogged… and then its time to replace them.This time I got these Spear Head MERV 11 filters. They’re not flimsy like my usual filters, and they slide right in. It only took a few days to see that these are a lot better than the filters I’ve been using. They trap smaller particles and you can easily see how dirty your filter is. The return air side is green, and gives you a much better idea of how dirty they are — my previous ones are off-white and a lot of the dirt just blends in.Despite being more expensive than the cheap filters I was buying, I can replace these less frequently and the cost will be about the same as using 3x the cheap filters, plus the extra time of changing them.

These are a nice a sturdy filter. They however measure smaller than expected, which left a small gap on each side when installed. Actual measurement is 15 3/8 in x 24 3/8 in, which is 1/2 inch smaller than the national brand I was using. I have not noticed any difference between this filter and the national brand as far as odor control or air flow.

I had just bought a 6 pack of A/C filters right before I got this set of 4 filters. So I have both sets to compare quality.The set of 4 filters is enough to last a year. Change it every 3 months as suggested.The cardboard frame in these seems thicker and more sturdy. In the past, I’ve had the cardboard frame on other filters try to bend either with installing them or removing them. I had no issues putting in this filter at all. It fits perfectly and as I said, the cardboard frame seems quite sturdy.I have no way to measure if it’s actually MERV11 but I have no way to test the ones I previously purchased either. The color is light enough to see how dirty it is when you’re ready to change it. There’s even an area on the side to jot down the date you installed it so you won’t forget.Be sure to install it in the correct direction with the arrow in the direction of the air flow. My air handler unit is in a closet in my house and this filter installs horizontally with the arrow pointing up. How you install your filter will depend on whether you install it horizontally or vertically. If you’re not sure, YouTube is an excellent way to watch and learn the correct way.

I got this four pack of air filters to replace our filters for the home AC system. For the price these are a decent value, and are intended to be replaced every 3 months.I got the 16×25 and these are the perfect replacement size for 1x16x25 filters. They fit just fine and change out like any other air filter. Use the guide arrows when installing it so you know which way the filter is supposed to face.Overall I’m happy with these and would purchase them again. They’re on par with the ones I usually get from the big warehouse membership store.

I have been buying my filters one at a time at my local hardware store, and was buying MERV 10. These have better filtration ad are less expensive because you’re buying in bulk. I won’t need more filters for a while, but unless the price changes drastically I plan to come back to these when I run out.

Remember that thicker filters put pressure on the flow of your AC/Heating system. So far I’m good with them.

These filters are actually really nice, very sturdy. My big problem is one like others have said air flow direction is wrong. Bit the biggest is the size. This screen is a 1/4 smaller all around than the filters i typ buy which makes it not even close to fotting properly in my return allowing a ton of unfiltered air to pass through. I am returning them but gave 3 stars due to quality.
