   Was shopping Amazon for furnace filters. Went to the Filtrete page, a brand that I know that has a size that I need. Had some time, so decided to browse the reviews before ordering.Good move, as I learned a lot I’d never bothered to know. Such as that “MERV8” is an industry rating that allows the maker to claim its product “captures and reduces ragweed pollen, mold spores, dust mite debris and pet dander,” all things my house needs to be rid of. I also learned you can buy filters with higher MERV ratings that remove more debris, but, as a result, clog sooner, need changing more often and cost more. All that considered, I decided to stick with MERV8s.Another reviewer pointed out that NordicPure filters with the same MERV rating as the Filtretes were currently available on Amazon at a significantly lower price. Which is how I arrived at this page and why, less than 24 hours later, a big boxful of Nordic filters arrived at my house.Unlike the illustration here, Nordic filters bought by the dozen don’t come individually wrapped; they come in one humungous sized box that contains on its outsides all the relevant info you’d usually find on a wrapper. The only info on the filters is the size (in this case 14x24x1).While I had shelf space for the filters, I had none for the humungous box. Was a bit worried that by the time a year or so from now when I’ll need to reorder, I may well have forgotten the brand name and MERV rating of these filters. Finally realized all I need to do is write down the brand name, MERV rating and any other relevant info that’s on the box onto the side of filter #12 before putting the box out for recycling.

   I NEEDED A 23 1/2 X 13 1/2″ SIZE UNIT AS IT WAS DESCRIBED IN THE BODY OF THE OFFER BUT IT ARRIVED AND THE SIZE WAS 23 5/8 X 13 5/8″. IT WAS A TIGHT FIT BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET IT IN THE SPACE WITH OUT MUCH DISTORTION SO IT SEALED THE SPACE.

   fantastic fit for my trane system. does not whistle or clog early. i get about 5.5 weeks out of a filter (so 10 annually) and i have to shake pretty hard to get dust out so i know i’m not over using the filter.

   No problems. Good quality. Good price. Nothing too exciting about filters. These appear to be made better than many that are more expensive. I have no way of knowing just how good of a job that do, so I have to take the MERV 8 rating on faith.

   None of the local home stores carry this size so I went ahead and ordered a year’s worth…a bit apprehensively, I might add. The filters arrived promptly, packed in a sturdy carton and are very well made. I will definitely re-order next year.
