I love these high MERV filters!! Pictures show my replacing last years filters with the new ones, and then attached to the box fan. All that grey coloring is what normally would be circulating and breathed in.Our 1960 Chicagoland area raised ranch home, has the typical unfinished rectangle shaped basement with concrete floors and cinderblock walls. There has ALWAYS been a strong earthy scent, so to even “finish” the basement into a living area just seemed gross.. so we have it designated this as the space to do laundry, perfect seasonal storage, some winter projects, and is of course were our furnace is located.Even with keeping the humidity below 50%, using minimal cardboard and other “yummy” materials that can harbor mold or mildew, using a couple box fans on low speed to actively circulate the airflow around the basement, there are still normal particulates and odors that wind up circulating and making their way to the upstairs living/sleeping areas due to the furnace and the wood floors.. and that is in every home.(Radon testing has always been negative btw..)So to truly minimize any circulating particulates, I have followed others leads and created a four filter box fan system. So easy to put together, and comes out cheaper in the long run than purchasing a dedicated “air purifier”.

TOO MUCH resistance on our home HVAC. I thought I would try it.The MREV 14 provides cleaner air.

Works well

it really pulls out dirt, dust etc. However, in Florida running an AC non-stop, I have to change the filter every month.

We’re minimalists with a hypoallergenic pet, we clean regularly and dust. With that being said, we’re having to change the filter about every 2 months due to the higher rated filtration. Just something to be mindful of.It works exceptionally well and our house stays fresh and odor-free. We do not require any extra air purifiers with these filters, it’s definitely an AIO solution to maintaining clean, quality air.
