   I have used these for a bit over 3 months now and have now replaced with this same brand. During the past 3 months, I can say with certainty that these filters did improve the smell of the house almost immediately (purchased a home that had been neglected and was very musty smelling) while doing a seemingly good job filtering based on the appearance of the 3-month old FilterBuy filter next to the new one. The sound of airflow in the new filter sounded much better than the old FilterBuy filter which also seems to indicate it is doing its job properly. As many others have noted, the dimensions of these filters (I use four 14x25x1s in my home) are a couple mm smaller width and length (1″ depth may be a hair smaller too) than the main competition. The paper frame completely covers the opening into the ductwork. The ceiling returns tell the story with these filters – when the fan stops running, the filters fall the cm or so down to the grate surface; when the fan begins to run, the filter is sucked upwards to the ductwork frame. The air being pulled into the system seems to be going exclusively through the filter once the fan is running as viewed with a smoking candle wick. But for a fraction of a second every time the fan begins to operate, there is little to no filtration. This is probably inconsequential unless you have a lot of dust – I have a dog who sheds like crazy and I don’t see any evidence of fur in the fan or ductwork. I’ll follow up at the end of 6 months to see if this remains to be the case.For now I’m continuing my auto renewal of this product. I’d give it 5 stars if it weren’t for the loose fitment and resulting lack of filtration for a moment; I have it at 4 stars because the momentary lack of filtration is not a serious problem in western NC, even with my shedding dog. If you live near the coast or in a sandy / dusty area of the country it may be a significant problem, at whichpoint you may want to consider another product that fits more appropriately.

   I just replaced this filter after the first 1 1/2 months use.The filter color was a little darker than a new filter, however I expected to see more fine dust on the filter.Next season, I plan to go back to the Filtrete white filters, which get dirty as expected.
